Every day human beings face many challenges and have an obligation to choose between diverse opinions and numerous options, depending on circumstances they are facing in life. However, for human beings to be able to live peacefully together in society, they need laws to guide them. Therefore, the laws require implementation and punishment for those who break them. There is also the religion that helps people maintain social welfare and social order. In all these cases, there are different matters put into consideration before drawing a conclusion.
Judgment as an Act or a Process
Individuals might get into circumstances, where they have different options to choose from. Many options are applicable and have different advantages, disadvantages or varying impacts from one another. Therefore, the person in the situation is supposed to form an opinion after a keen deliberation or consideration of the available opinions to make a wise choice. The process can be referred to as judgment. An individual judges that one opinion is better than the other and, hence, opts to put it into practice over the other. People might often change the opinions one after the other to determine the one that has more advantages to them. After evaluating all the opinions, one comes up with a judgment that one of them is the most appropriate.
Judgment as Ability
Judgment is also defined as the mental ability to distinguish and perceive relationships. People learn to apply different theories that make them be able to make decisions regarding things that cannot be seen (Kitchener et al 906). The theories equip them with the ability to analyze natural and manmade features. The ability equips them with making the right decisions. For instance, a pilot has to focus on different features to know the distance. However, there are some factors, such as fatigue, that prevent the mental ability to judge the distance.
Judgment as the Ability to Distinguish
Judgment is also defined as the capacity to form an opinion by evaluating and distinguishing. In different occasions, individuals have a variety of issues presented to them. Therefore, they are left with the responsibility of forming an opinion after evaluating the opinions to be able to distinguish which one is better. This capacity can be referred to as judgment. For instance, one can judge that music is more entertaining than comedy. It is achieved after accessing situations and circumstances, hence be able to draw a good conclusion.

Judgment in Law
Judgment can also be defined as a judicial decision (Kitchener & King 158). Judges are charged with the responsibility of listening to witnesses accused, varying evidence and making judicial decisions, depending on the set laws. Therefore, when one is accused and presents his defense, the judge is responsible for making a decision or a judgment whether that person is guilty or not, depending on the weight of witness statement and evidence. According to the law, a judgment can also be defined as a court decision that establishes the owed obligation. For instance, if a judge decides that a person has a debt that should be paid, that is a judgment. In all legal systems, judgment is termed as a decision made by the court to adjudicate for the rights of diverse parties to a legal action.
However, a final judgment can be made by a more superior court to review the decision made if the person accused is not satisfied. It operates as a solution to settle in an authoritative way matters that are in dispute. Therefore, the judgment in a legal context can be defined as identical with the official verdict made by a law court, following a claim. It occurs as the final part of a case that is presiding in a court. There are different tribunals that are set as constitutional infrastructures to assist in judicial cases. The decision made by the tribunal can also be referred to as a judgment. Moreover, for a decision to be termed as a valid judgment, it must have the ability to resolve all the issues contested.
A statement issued by the court or the tribunal determining the winner, loser and the remedies rewarded to the winner can also be termed as the judgment. Informal systems, it must be in a written form, presenting in a clear way the issues that have been adjudicated. In addition, it must have the name of the parties that it has been given. In monetary judgments, the judgments must define in a specific way in terms of words and figures to avoid confusion. A judgment made by a court must be docketed and dated with the court administrators' office.
Judgment from a Religious View
Most human beings have faith in some kind of supernatural being that controls everything in the world. Faith has resulted in diverse religions. Most interesting is that all religions believe in punishment. Some believe that the punishment will come after death, while others belief that punishment comes on a daily basis. Believers believe that judgment is a misfortune sent by God to punish them because of their sins. Others believe that after death, they will live again or die, depending on the life they live today. It is because of the judgment that God will make basing the judgment on the way they behave today (Rest 19).
In conclusion, judgment is the process or act of the mind to compare ideas, agree or disagree, assert truth, examine arguments and facts and come up with a good conclusion. Human beings can compare ideas, assert relationships and make a clear judgment on what is the best solution. In a law, both in criminal and civil judgment may depend on confession, evidence and witness statement. Therefore, judgment can be defined as the power or right to pass sentences in a law court. In a personal level, judgment is the ability to make a decision from different opinions and taking the best opinion for the answer. Lastly, from a religious view, judgment is the final trial that will occur after the end of a human race at a time when God will decide the fate of man through awarding sentences according to personal deeds. All human beings have the responsibility of making decisions or judgments that can affect their life both positively or negatively.
